Client: Chocolate Arts
Description
Chocolate Arts produces very high quality chocolates which it sells either on an individual or packaged basis. Synergy developed “How Much?” a flexible costing program that includes labour and value added ingredients – essentially nested recipes. The program also serves as a database for all recipes and all ingredients.
Goal

To know accurately on recipe cost and profit margin on each type of chocolate (finished unit); especially given the high cost of quality ingredients.

Approach

Synergy worked in collaboration with the operations staff and management to understand the manufacturing and business process and transformed the manufacturing process into database driven Microsoft Access based solution.

The solution architect is very generic allowing the chocolate manufacturer to define their own units of measurement for example grams, bins, cases and to group items the way the business requires it.

Results
Chocolate Arts can now determine the exact cost of production of an ingredient or a finished product and decide whether to produce the item or not depending on profitability. Custom wholesale orders can now be accurately and quickly quoted. Because of the program’s flexibility “How Much?” can be adapted to any manufacturing process to determine cost of goods sold.
I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Synergy Computer Consulting for the provision of computer system analysis, design and implementation.
